Tainted Toys
|
| |
Tainted Toys
(pictured above), the
Sydney based four
piece, exploded onto
the live circuit two
years ago. Tainted
Toys create a
trademark sound of
melodic hard rock
formed by using
influences and
techniques acquired
from a plethora of
musical genres.
Their fan base
continues to expand
as they appeal to
more than just a
rock audience.
Tainted Toys was
invited to take part
in the Whichway
Indigenous music
development program
to record their EP
Sleep Stories.
Whichway is a
project of Music NSW
and funded through
Arts NSW. Sleep
Stories was recorded
with Andrew Beck (Grinspoon,
Epicure, Mental As
Anything) at Damien
Gerard Studios. The
EP clearly portrays
the musical
progression and
growth of the band
when compared with
their 2008
self-titled release.

The Public Opinion
Afro Orchestra
|
| |
Inspired by the
infectious afro-beat
music of Nigeria and
its neighbours, The
Public Opinion Afro
Orchestra delivers a
contemporary blend
of hip hop and
African funk to
Australian dance
floors. This mammoth
ensemble comprises
up to twenty
musicians
hand-picked from
Melbourne’s African,

experience and
creativity of these
established
musicians energises
the group’s original
compositions and the
sound of the entire
band is a force to
be reckoned with.
The Public Opinion
Afro Orchestra is
the current feature
artist on Triple J
Unearthed.
Their latest release
‘Future Africa’
features N’fa from
1200 Techniques and
was partially
recorded by Andy

Chase The Sun
|
| |
New arrivals on the
blues and roots
scene; Chase The Sun
have spent no time
garnering widespread
critical acclaim for
their soul-tinged
song writing, blues
sensibilities and
the powerhouse live
delivery of guitar
star-on-the-rise Jan
Rynsaardt. Combining
elements of
old-school acoustic
blues, Stevie Ray
Vaughn boogie,
hillbilly finger
picking and Hendrix
flash; three-piece
Chase The Sun crank
out a new take on a
classic sound.
Since forming in
2006, Chase The Sun
have gone hard and
got a lot done in a
short time. The band
recently won the
Australian Blues
Award for Best Group
and are establishing
themselves as a
must-see live act
through constant
touring nationally.
‘Living Free’ is an
upbeat rockabilly,
blues and roots
based track.
"Sometimes a trio
comes along and
impresses with their
sheer power,
dexterity and
originality...This
is the sort of band
you can put
anywhere, from beer
barn to
amphitheatre, and
they will win people
over...Chase The Sun
have put their own
stamp on the blues
and roots genre and,
quite simply, there
isn't a weak moment
on their debut
release" – Drum
Media.
